I've done two previous posts this week begging someone in the media to ask Ignatieff if he would support a Conservative minority budget should Stephen Harper win another minority government. I actually left a comment for the National Post's John Ivison on a column he did about the coalition talk being done with and put to rest, asking him to ask Ignatieff that question. Today we got the answer: "
VANCOUVER — Michael Ignatieff has said he would not be able to support a Conservative budget, if it is the same one that was rejected by the three opposition parties last week. In a broad-ranging interview with the National Post, the Liberal leader was asked if he could support the same budget that Jim Flaherty, the Finance Minister, introduced in the House of Commons last week.
“I think we’ve given a clear answer on that question,” he said. If they win, the Conservatives would be obliged to bring down a budget and Mr. Flaherty has already said he intends to re-introduce the same financial plan that the three opposition parties rejected. Indeed, the Conservatives have been campaigning on many of the measures contained in Mr. Flaherty’s plan.
It suggests the country is destined for an endless cycle of elections until one side or another wins a majority government. The Conservatives have accused Mr. Ignatieff of hatching a plan to form a coalition government with the NDP, supported by the Bloc Québécois, and Mr. Ignatieff’s admission that he could not support Mr. Flaherty’s budget will add to suspicions that the opposition parties are planning to act in concert. Mr. Ignatieff ruled out a coalition or a formal agreement with the Bloc on Saturday.

Paul; just listened to Ignatieff speaking in St. Boniface, Manitoba and he stated one of his campaign agendas is to introduce a 700 million dollar increase for seniors to theguaranteed income supplement, total amount 650 dollars to each senior. Funny exactly what was in the budget that he said had nothing for seniors. Talked about his learning passport, PMSH had similar help in the budget for students that had been given thumbs up by student federation.
He also took shots at PMSH and Shelley Glover over the ageist comment. poor poor libs so hard done by.

There will be a lot of new libs elected this time, if they hold all the seats of those who are not running again. As will all partys. Will those new members support a coalition, or vote against the budget. Every candidate in every riding has to be asked that question and get their answer recorded.
Say would you say the PC, Reform, Alliance and the new Conservatives were a coalition?

Some info from the 2008 election. Only 15 mps were elected with over 50% of the vote. 25 were elected with around 40%, the rest were elected with less than that so only 15 mps were there with a majority vote of their constituents.
851,535 liberals did not vote in 2008 that voted in 2006. Bloc 173,000, conservatives 165,278, NDP 76,711.
The greens gained 276,229 of those voters (in protest IMHO) and ended up with 940,297 votes, not the million that lizzie brags about.
For the coalition to say more voted against PMSH, well more voted against the majority of the members of the coalition.
Funny, you never hear Ujjal saying he won by 33 votes. The libs won 14 seats in Que to PMSH 10. Should be interesting this time.
Stop the Bloc take over of Canada, vote conservative.
I wonder how the media would react, could they continue on hating PMSH with a majority of at least 20 seats.
And if he is short a couple of seats, maybe some of those libs would cross the floor to keep a coalition from taking over.
They have formed one party, do not run as separate party. If the libs/ndp formed one party it would be different, one candidate in each riding.
Well, let's see.
1. The PC's under Joe Clark wanted nothing to do with the Reform Party.
2. The Reform Party became the Canadian Alliance Party, which became the Conservative Party. They never existed at the same time.
3. The PC and Canadian Alliance Parties merged to become ONE PARTY, running one candidate in all 308 ridings. Liberals and NDP are running candidates seperately in all ridings. Bloc in all 75 Quebec ridings.

Winnipeg? Think Winnipeg Free Press. Isn't the Dipper Pat Martin's riding? Heck, I'll take a Liberal win in that riding just to see that creep Martin gone from Parliament.
