left no written record of important decisions taken by officials, and may have broken numerous contracting rules in its handling of the controversial gun registry, Auditor General Sheila Fraser has found"
And despite a scathing 2008 REPORT from former AG Sheila Fraser, Liberal leadership candidate Deborah Coyne says no Liberal has to “apologize” for the federal long-gun registry, a political quagmire for the party for more than a decade. Justin Trudeau was right, it was a "failure" Where Trudeau looks the fool is his easily found comments supporting the long-gun registry.
You know, this Liberal leadership race is gonna be tons of fun. Already JT is flip-flopping on long held Liberal ideology, and now Coyne states Liberals have no reason to apologize for missing money, broken rules, and hiding spending from Parliament and by extension all Canadians.
I'm surprised that canada.com article you linked to is still available on the web. Many media outlets seem to sanitize their sites regularly, with old links saying "page not found".
ReplyDeleteThis part of the article was especially telling:
"The auditor general's report also found that there is a lack of evidence to support the effectiveness of the gun registry, or to prove that it is meeting its stated goal of improving public safety.
"The performance report focuses on activities such as issuing licences and registering firearms. The Centre does not show how these activities help minimize risks to public safety with evidence-based outcomes such as reduced deaths, injuries and threats from firearms," the report said."
Good find.
I know exactly what you mean about the sanitizing Gabby. The AG was unable to trace $43 million in gun registry spending. Any links I find state page not found.
ReplyDeleteThat's why some time ago I started copying and pasting into my documents file entire pertinent articles with appropriate links, even if they eventually become inactive.
ReplyDeleteCoyne has a bone to pick with you on my blog...
ReplyDeleteReplied to it Joanne. Seems he forgets what he wrote just a week ago. I've provided links for him as well.
