Congrats guys, you've managed to improve your video quality immensely since that Dion Coalition debacle that everyone had fun dissing. Now, I understand that you guys have put out something in the area of $2 million for your new set of ads, with the first three just released. So being curious I gave the vids a once over. The first thing I noticed was I was feeling a tad nauseous. Now that's not that uncommon when I view Liberal dribble, especially when it's Ignatieff lecturing me on how Canadians can be better than we are today. Of course that doesn't say much about that last 13 years of Liberal rule. But there was just something about that video with Iggy in the trees that turned my stomach, and I realized what it was.
So my advice is, on the next round of ads, try using a TRIPOD!
Update: I just noticed a fellow Blooging Tory has done a similar post, and has made another remark I missed, Ignatieff stays centred but the background appears to move. Was this shot in a studio, like the ones at Sears that take child portraits?

But he's wearing a beautiful blue shirt!!
ReplyDeleteIt's fair game to go after the quality because frankly, it's atrocious but the demeanor of the central figure, is an Academy Award winning PERFORMANCE.
ReplyDeleteIn all of the You Tube items, taped lectures, town halls, the list goes on, Ignatieff is NEVER a nice guy with a 30 second grin.
He is a cold, know it all, with very little emotion or warm nuances.
Everything sounds like a lecture from an angry parent or a miserable teacher.
In this, he is acting, the entire time.
I never realized until viewing that ad that Iggy must be a teeth grinder. I highly recommend that he visit his dentist and get fitted for a night appliance which will help reduce further wear and tear on his front teeth.
ReplyDeleteMr. Ignatieff simply does not take flattering photos. He squints too like he's trying hard to see the teleprompter.
ReplyDeletePaul - it was likely WAAL doing the filming on his cellphone. Bart the Fish was way better an actor than Iggy.
I think it's only fair if Ignegative grinds his teeth , I do the same every time I hear him speak . Likewisw Bob Rae , or Goodale .....
ReplyDeleteWhen I looked at the video the first time, the thing that immediately struck me was that it was shot like those old movies of people in cars passing scenery/cityscapes.
ReplyDeleteThe actors were seated in an unfunctioning car and the moving scenic background was being projected behind them. They (the actors) were forced to lean left or right, as required, to give some semblance of reality. Ignatieff though is the middling centerpiece as the real scenery moves about and around him.
How very appropriate.

ReplyDeleteThat is very funny and you have provided a super analogy that conjures up a terrific visual!
Very Keystone Cops-ish! Ha ha!
Bec - Very symbolic indeed.
ReplyDeleteBTW, how does Iggy explain this line:
"I know Canada can take on the world and win."
Isn't that just a wee bit imperialist? I mean, isn't the Liberal party supposed to be all about sharing, and charity and stuff? Does Iggy not quite get it? Or maybe he's trying to change direction.
In a time when many Canadians need a job, why is it that Iffy wants to send more work to China and India?
ReplyDeleteThose teeth repulse me . They look like a pipesmoker's teeth. But the truth is that this is an old codger past his "best before date". The quality of the video is amateurish.
ReplyDeleteI think he will back down. Otherwise it's a slaughter.
ON another topic, Labour Day in Windsor is again an exclusive event to only CAW and CUPE members, though other unions may have a token representative.
ReplyDeleteThe local NDP hacks get and invite and promotion by the CAW while the only Conservative in the area Jeff Watson,MP Essex County and former CAW member was not invited. This is the gratitude they show to the man who fought to save their industry and jobs.
Shame of the unions discriminatory attitude and practices against the government and party that saved their asses.
I'm still waiting to hear whether the NDP and Liberals support the auto bailout or not. Neither have publically stated as much.
ReplyDeleteLook at the margins of his "body" in the video. It looked like a video shot in front of a green sheet and the "background" shot somewhere else, superimposed behind him. He wasn't really "there" out in the trees.
ReplyDeleteIt's a fake scene.
