Karlheinz Schreiber Finally Gets The Boot....

After years of abusing the Canadian courts at taxpayer expense, Schreiber will be finally be on his way back to Germany. Perhaps Robert Thibault or Paul Zed can drive him to the airport, seeing as they have more time to themselves after the last election.

"Karlheinz Schreiber's decade-long fight to stay in Canada came to an end Sunday afternoon in a Toronto courtroom.

The embattled businessman was ordered to return to Germany after his lawyer, Edward Greenspan, spent the day unsuccessfully arguing Schreiber's case to the Ontario Court of Appeal.

The 75-year-old faces charges in Germany of fraud, bribery, corruption and tax evasion. The federal government ordered Schreiber to surrender himself into the custody of a Toronto detention center by 5:10 p.m. ET.

Schreiber has fought extradition since August 1999. Most recently, his extradition was delayed so he could testify at an inquiry into his business dealings with former prime minister Brian Mulroney. But public hearings ended last Tuesday."

  2. This is great news! Let him be gone and let's move him off the news permanently.

Ms. Mary - stop watching or listening to CTV - you're torturing yourself and it's not pretty.

  3. I linked to the ctv site from JNW, or I would never have heard what Fife said.

  4. It's about time! A big waste of our tax dollars. I'll believe it when I hear or see that Mr.Schreiber is in German hands.

  5. Schrieber has used the courts since August 1999, 10 full years, to avoid facing prosecution at our expense. All I can say is get this guy on the plane NOW.

  9. The only folks sorry to see the man leave will be the media people who are generally to lazy to go find a real story.
We should note that his money did buy him 10 years, which is more than the average Canadian could do.
Let's have a "Karlhienz- WHO"?.. party next week!

  11. (Earlier post deleted because of my spelling.)

And an old man is led in shackles onto a plane to Germany. Somehow the thrill of seeing him go is diminished.

At the end of the day, he's just an old man at the end of his road.

Sure glad Immigration isn't letting and Jamaican Gang Bangers in, or any Honour Killer Asians in or any Jihadist inclined Muslims in. That'd be a shame.

  13. Sorry Rob C, Fife said Brian never did anything illegal, would he lie?
I do agree with you, and I take pride in the fact I never voted for him.
CBC says he is on a plane, for Germany. Hope it is a non stop plane or he could disappear.

  15. I hear the sound of champaign glasses clinking,
is it coming from the Mulroney home?

Thibault and Szabo....and CBC and the Fifth Estate...no champaign for you!

  16. Hey Wilson, cbc did drag out Cashore for a phone interview today...I guess the tears he was shedding over poor Karl would have ruined his on-air make-up!

  17. After 10 years of fighting extradition, giving government committee testimony, appearing at the Oliphant inquiry, appearing on the Fifth Estate smear show, sitting down with Liberal MP's, we never got nadda about Schreiber about any illegal activities by Mulroney, or any other political figure for that matter.

And still today, like a man taking his last dying breath, Shreiber again insists he has a story to tell about illegal wrongdoing. Enjoy that German jail cell Karlheinz, hope you look good in stripes.

  18. Just remembered something, didn't some liberal put up several thousand dollars bail for KHS. Will he get it back, or did he get it back.

  19. Good question Mary:

"Meanwhile, the Ontario Court of Appeal has agreed to release Mr. Schreiber on $1.31-million bail. CBC News is reporting that former Liberal cabinet minister Marc Lalonde is among those posting bail, as is Mr. Schreiber and his wife, Barbel"

I would imagine since he met the conditions of his bail and has now been evicted that the bail would be returned to whoever paid.

LOL. You beat me on the business groups slamming Iggy's EI changes, so I had to even things out.

  21. Awww. I missed the Cashore call. He will definitely be in mourning mode. I liked it when they cut off Fife before he got to go to his anti-con platform.

I hope they will cover his arrival in Germany - that will make it truly justice completed. The man learned nothing from his days in our courts.

  22. Harvey Cashore ... time to find a new line of employment.....

    ReplyDelete
  23. How did Harvey get to Germany so fast. He is there to cover the arrival of KHS, and says every paper and tv station is covering it. Surprise, he seemed surprised that most of the press conference was in German. He asked a question in english and was told it was the cdn justice dept that was responsible for the long delay in getting him back home.
KHS is in a german jail, and Brian is not in jail or ever likely to be. All that time and effort by Harvey did was cost the cdn taxpayer millions of dollars.
Is the cbc paying for Harvey's trip to Germany, and how come he was there before KHS got there. When did he get his flight booked.

  24. KHS arrested on the charges of FRUAD TAX EVASION AND BRIBERY.

The opposition parties, fifth estate and the rest of the liberal media must be in mourning.

Mary T. Fife to say now that Brian never did anything illegal did not say so for before. FIFE, to me is no chief of anything but a puppet to the liberals.
The entire media, fifth estate owe Brian Mulroney a major apology and so to the PRIME MINISTER STEPHEN HARPER for making his life a 'living hell'
And above all the entire opposition parties owe the prime minister an apology.

I wonder why FIFE didn't escort KHS back to GERMANY.
