“Isn’t that interesting,” says Ms. MacDonnell. “They’re just so …. I wonder if it’s her staff trying to shield her from it or whether she is just terrified.”
“I think her staff is trying to shield her,” says Ms. Raitt.“Oh, God. She’s such a capable woman, but it’s hard for her to come out of a co-operative government into this rough-and-tumble.She had a question in the House yesterday, or two days ago, that planked. I really hope she never gets anything hot.”
Wow! Raitt is truly a monster! (end sarcasm)
ReplyDeleteWhat a scandal!!! Now we get to listen to the Liberals and their media go on and on about how horrible this is. What a joke. And they complain about our ads - unreal.
ReplyDeleteWell I'm shocked! Way back 6 months ago when both Ministers were new and still learning the ropes, this kind of support for each other is truly shocking.
ReplyDeleteWhat gives me a sick feeling in the pit of my stomach is how low the MSM and Liberals are willing to go to destroy a Conservative. No wonder the Conservatives don't trust the MSM.
I agree Hunter about the sick feeling in my stomach. Not much hope for democracy in Canada when the the Liberal Party and the MSM are one and the same. They are not even trying to co-ordinate their story about tape. Robert Fife bathroom and Chronicle Harold found in press gallery. Why worry no one in the MSM are willing to question ethic standards and stories of each other. Sad day for for ethics in journalism. Canadians deserve better.
ReplyDeleteI think the real story here is that Michael Ignaiteff decided to prop up the Harper government because he was threatened with retaliation by the CEOs of three major banks from the Canadian Council of Chief Executives.
ReplyDeleteGood to know where he's getting his marching orders!
You all know you would be doing the exact same thing if it was a Liberal in the same spot. The best blogs on BT and Liblogs are the ones that don't toe the party line no matter what the circumstances.
ReplyDeleteFife bathroom and Chronicle Harold found in press gallery.
ReplyDeleteAnd Scott Reid let it slip out on CBC Politics that the aide GAVE the tape to the Chronicle.
This is starting to sound like a real LPC/MSM dual hatchet mission. Something very fishy here. 6 hours of "mistaken" taping that somehow gets given to the media? And the aide's father just happens to be Iggy's main fund-raiser?
I don't disagree Éric. Her comments about it being sexy aren't very bright, regardless if it was in a private conversation.
ReplyDeleteThis post is about the media speculating all day about comments she made about the health minister that were supposed to be disparaging.
Eric - the LPOC haven't even begun to feel the wrath of the conservatives...why waste time and talent on pap like this latest BS that reminds me of the same kind of thing that the Liberals did under Dion.
ReplyDeleteSee, doesn't matter that Iggy's your leader....because he will never be Canda's. Voters will get more of a chance to see that the more Ignatieff's in charge.
Hey paulsstuff, are you getting another 'post dream' with the comment from anony @ 5:48pm.
ReplyDeletere The tape, I guess I am missing something. Half of it is car acceleration sounds and rather choppy. I wonder how these things can legally be released without being verified?
Will we have another ethics investigation re this media outlet or the inaccurate innuendos flying around from other media reporters?
It all seems pretty vague, frankly.
By the way, Éric has a fantastic seat projection blog called three hundred and eight everyone should check out. The link is on the right sidebar of my homepage.
ReplyDeleteBec, you read my mind. I'm trying to get some info about what was actually said at that meeting with the bankers.
ReplyDeleteMcCallum denies it, but then again he doesn't even know what kind of car he drives. And there was that whole too drunk to get on an airplane thingy.
WOW what a bunch of bizarro partisans. Medical isotopes and people with cancer is not "sexy".
ReplyDeleteI can see why Harper has kept his ministers silenced. These guys are a bunch of amateurs.
I can see why the Conservatives unleashed the lawyers to get an injunction on this trvaesty.
ReplyDeleteHey, if you don't think this a scandal then you won't mind us telling Canadians.
I guess you missed my comment @6:02 anon.
ReplyDeleteFor the hopless partisans on this thread I am pleased that you are bursting with pride over the conduct of Lisa Raitt. Keep it coming and you will handle the Liberals a majority.
ReplyDeletePlease...really more of this and negative ads too.
Now you know why Harper relies onnegatives attack ads. His ministers are idiots.
ReplyDeleteThe media finds bad ugly and gorey news 'sexy' so a Minister gets lots of face time.
ReplyDeleteThat is what she meant, and the media is twisting her words into a totally different meaning.
Raitt was talking about a press release and setting the tone in the media.
(link to audio, below, mid page)
then Maher writes:
Ms. MacDonnell said the isotope issue is hard to control, “because it’s confusing to a lot of people.”
“But it’s sexy,” says Ms. Raitt. “Radioactive leaks. Cancer.”
“Nuclear contamination,” says Ms. MacDonnell.
“But it’s only about money,” say Ms. Raitt.

Anonymous, maybe you should go through some bricks at Ruby Dhalla and her glass forced labor house.
ReplyDelete"While embarrassing, this in no way affects the minister's ability to do her job," Soudas said in an e-mailed statement.
ReplyDelete"Ministers Raitt and Aglukkaq have the confidence of the PM."
Okay, okay...no big deal. ROFLMAO! Losers, every single one of you.
ReplyDeleteAnd Scott Reid let it slip out on CBC Politics that the aide GAVE the tape to the Chronicle.
ReplyDeleteReally? I missed that.
I missed it too Joanne, and I forgot to record to the pvr.
ReplyDeleteAnony @ 6:23 pm
ReplyDeleteJASMINE, requested the injunction. The Conservative party had NOTHING to do with it.
'Sexy' is a common phrase now used by the younger generation to describe an interesting challenge, something that a person could sink their teeth into...
It is by no means used in the 'old fashioned' way like followers of an old guy would surmise but nice research as usual.
I think this is a bit more than embarrassing but far short of a scandal.
ReplyDeleteCanadians don't like Harper's games and this is another example of how the Conservatives treat crises as political opportunities. Canadians in particular don't like to hear about politicians "rolling the dice" on critical issues, especially life and death issues. It's a bit callous, to say the least.
I agree Ted. Her remarks come across as insensitive, regardless if taken out of context. I do think the way the media portrayed the "diparaging remarks about the health minister" to be a stretch though. Calling someone capable is not my idea of an insult.
ReplyDeleteI've been called much worse. About an hour ago actually by my ex-wife.
To hear Scott Reid's comments, go to CBC on the internet. Type in Don Newman politics. the whole Broadcast is avilable for Monday. At about 52:05 Scott Reid says the aid gave the tape to the Chronicle herald herself.
ReplyDeleteHey! Nonny!!
ReplyDeleteTangoJuliette sez:
Looks like David Mc Gee! is trying to deflect heat from Bro Dalton Mc Gee! of an eHealthOnt scam fast approaching Federal Liberal Gun Registry and Adscam volatility.
Harris were to do something like this Liberal eHealth scam, or Mulrooney?
Hell would not contain enough ink with which the MSM would try to flood our streets.
Time for Ontari-arians to dig out the pitachforks and torches and take it to the streets.
These liberals have no shame. The have no conscience. The DO have moxy, and boy do they EVER have entitlements! And they have no qualms whatsoever in appropriating them. On our dime.
In Ontario's case, they do it on my OHIP card, and on my back, and on my personal health, well-being and life expectancy.
Ont Min of Health? He's gotta get gone!! Likewise Dalton! Likewise the bluddy Liberal Ontario Party Machinery, beofre we all die off, bankrupt, hungry and wasted away.
Dalton's agenda? The ultimate destruction of our healthcare system as we know it.
Almost one billion dollars "vanished"intoguess who's pockets, and our healthcare program hasn't improved one whit.
Should I die abecause of this Liberal intransigence, my offsspring and grand-children know just what lawyer to sic onto the Dastardly Dalton Gang.
Reckless Endangerment. Dereliction of Duty. Malfeasance. Misappropriation of funds. Willful disregard and negligence causing death.
Litigate these putzes into personal poverty and ultimate oblivion.

Thanks Fay, I'll check it out. appreciate all the great comments everyone.
ReplyDeleteWow. That's right. Reid does say that.
ReplyDeleteI wonder how the Liberals will incorporate this into an attack ad? "Stephen Harper has Capable Ministers. Sexy Capable Ministers."?
ReplyDeleteJust rambling.

Even in the most sexually liberated and self-satisfied of nations, many people still yearn to burn more, to feel ready for bedding no matter what the clock says and to desire their partner of 23 years as much as they did when their love was brand new.
The market is saturated with books on how to revive a flagging libido or spice up monotonous sex, and sex therapists say “lack of desire” is one of the most common complaints they hear from patients, particularly women.
